In Contern, some pears that had fallen from a tree were stolen from a farmer. Furious, he cried out: “May the thief have as many devils in his body as pears he has stolen from me!”

The young girl who, while watching the cows, had gathered the pears from under the tree and eaten them, was from that moment on possessed by the devil.

When the girl attended Mass and the priest began his sermon, she would stand up and shout: “Don’t believe what the priest is saying; it’s all lies!”

Then the priest had only to say: “Satan, be silent, I command you!” and the girl would fall quiet.
