The Legend of the Schrättlig of Goldach [Goldach / Rorschach / Suisse]

At night, the Schrättlig often came into our house and tormented first one member of the family, then another. Once, we blocked the fiend’s way out, and the next morning we found a straw lying on the floor of the common room. We struck it with hammers and axes. As a result, a woman known to us lay gravely ill in her bed.
