The Legend of the White Ladies of Bollenberg [Westhalten / Haut-Rhin / France] Fragment

Near Rouffach there is a hill called the Bollenberg. White ladies are often said to be seen there dancing in a ring around a flame; the hill is also notorious as a gathering place for witches.

In the region around Colmar, at the end of winter, simple-minded people are sent to the Bollenberg to sieve the snow there; then, so the saying goes, spring will come all the sooner.
