In former times, a spirit of this kind appeared in a well-known house. During Advent and the Ember Days, its rumbling was often heard. It sounded as though heavy objects were being thrown about.
When the animals were being fed, it often appeared in the stable and stared rudely at the farmer. A clergyman was able to banish it. For this purpose, a skull was carved from stone and brought into the house. From that time onward, the spirit never appeared again.
It must have been a poor soul awaiting deliverance.
