A man from Kaysersberg had business to attend to in Schnierlach, La Poutroye, which lay two hours farther up in the mountains. He set out before day had even begun to break.
Suddenly, a large, heavy coach came rolling up behind him. At the coachman’s invitation, he climbed inside; but he was more than a little astonished when he felt himself lifted into the air together with the whole vehicle.
The coachman paid no heed to his loud and repeated cries. But when the first pale light of day appeared in the sky, the coach door sprang open, and the unwilling aerial traveller was set down on the summit of a high mountain facing Schnierlach.
